Return to the Magic Box Frog

I have no excuse for why I have neglected this assignment. I'm literally wasting money down the drain, all because I don't want to aim towards being this "Super digital artist" that I see and envy. But I don't want to let it go down the drain.
So here's the update. I'm still stuck on lesson 2, for brush economy. And it seems like I've failed, since I'm brushing in too much.
I don't know but I've almost given up on it. There were so many things I failed during the initial color comp, that it's forcing me to paint over lots of areas to cover or construct them. I'm almost tempted to just quit. I don't mind being more of a comic artist, or the way I'm doing art. But at the same time, does that count as ignorance of wanting to grow? Is this my laziness making excuses? I'm always hesitant to initiate things on my own, in fear of messing up. I don't know how I'll get over that stigma. Anyways, I have to get this uploaded in order for me to post my progress in the Oatley critique boards.
I'll be posting last week's sketches in this week's sketches.

Also, for those of you who don't know, I'm planning on doing livestreams every Saturday, at around 7 pm. If you want to check up on when the livestream will be, you can always check my personal tumblr. Or better yet, here's the link to InyujiDrawsStuff.

Weekly sketches, and some small flash projects

First off, there's nothing much in terms of sketches. Now that my schedule is changed, that means I use my short mornings to work on Sugar Dominion pages. Also, been working a bit on the Comic Prose Experiment for Eruti.

This was a sketch that I did of Creon on a motorcycle. At first I was modeling the pose on the famous still screenshot from the animated movie "Akira", but decided against it. Next time though, I definitely will have to, in order to get better with motorcycles. My brother suggested that I make the bike an old Harley, rather than some slick sport bike. Just to give that old-outdated feel.

This started while I was waiting for my taco, when I went out t Cheeky's with my bible study group. And of course, my eraser is showing signs of death, or it's time for me to get a better pencil case (which I've ordered). I thought about the possible food venues Creon and Hinder would find. Of course, in the post-apocalypse, you got to make do with what you can find or get. Hence, the rat tacos. I haven't even thought about the noodle stand Creon would go to. And the concept of food, and how in this world, most food is processed and serves only for nourishment and nutrition. Hence the name: Nourijello. How to eat the bland jello? Creon always tries to find some stale fritos to sprinkle in her jello.

This is a little napkin doodle I made for our server. I decided to make my tip a bit more special. That and I wasn't sure he would know if the $1.25 in pennies was my tip.

Yesterday, I had the rare opportunity of nearly NO interruptions. So I did my stream earlier and longer. This is a small animation I'm making for my stream. It's going to be an animation for my "Away From Keyboard" scene.

I didn't get much during the stream, but I've finally gone back to working on the Pixel Brains' short. It's chaotic at this moment, but hopefully I won't need those rough storyboard shots.

Great news! I managed to get Beeswhacks onto Tapastic. It was a pain resizing and cropping thumbnails. But it was worth it. Hopefully Tapastic will bring more exposure.

Bi-weekly sketches from July 19-August 2

First off, sorry that I missed the update.
But now, I have lots of stuff to actually show you all, rather than a measly 1 or 2 drawings of chicken scratch.
I did quite a bit of "Blue Fire" idea sketches. Feeling pretty proud of myself.
Now if I can get to getting the plot/chapter breakdown, then I can actually start.

Now first off, some Eruti doodles. Again, it seems I'm trying to experiment with drawing styles. At the same time, I ended up making another unnecessary element to Asmod's demonic voice. Why would people freak out if his hair is unbound? Because he'd be known as the "Hell Star", and there's a demonic eye of the demon Asmodeus in the center of the back of his head. Which is why he needs to keep his hair bound in a ponytail. I had some fun with imagining his transition and loss of control over the demon.

And now some Blue Fire doodles. I was trying to get a feel for the phantom character (still no name), especially with him using fire or his club. I did some research on the mythological creatures for Korea. So far, not much. Just a lot of DoeKaeBi, Gwishin (ghosts/spirits), Gumihos (9-tailed fox), Spirits, and Shins (Gods). I have NOT found any "phantoms". The only close translation for phantom is...well...phantom ghost YuRyoung 유령. Oh and Fairies. I'm clearly making waaay too much backstory for this character.

Oh and there are dragons too. Dragons are a thing in almost any eastern culture. For this case, this giant snake is an Imugi, a proto-dragon. They're practically giant serpents that have yet to achieve the power and status of Dragons. They can become dragons by either 2 ways:
1) Survive a 1000 years
2) Attain a dragon's Yeouiju (an orb that contains the dragon's source of power).
Decided to find some way of making this phantom's BangMangYi (DoeKaeBi/demon club) extra cool. And yeah, it talks.

And this moleskin spread was an idea I had that I wanted to get out. Don't know if I'll use this. I know some people would scream Stockholm Syndrome, which is a really a mysteriously dangerous concept. Does YeoungHy enjoy being "married"? Probably not to this guy, who is almost an insensitive jerk most of the time. But I still want to make this a believable relationship, where they'd still care for each other. The phantom here is definitely in a vulnerable state while sleeping. It's one of those rare cases where she'd see him cry or show other expressions that are NOT apathetic or angry.

Some drawings I did at the Wolf Mountain Winery. This ugly prismacolor pencil drawing was done outside in front the vineyards. I wanted so badly to capture its beauty. But weather and heat didn't agree. Also, I'm quite horrendous with color. And sorry for the horrible cameraphone photo.

A half-finished drawing in brush pen that I couldn't finish. I didn't have the chance to use my grey brush pens. And that's what the the right page was for. I hope to get better with using those brush pens.
